Originally the ribwort plantain was native to the European countries. Its name comes from the Old German word wega = path and rich = kingThe ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata), also known as the skewer cabbage, is a herbaceous plant up to 50cm high with deep roots. The leaves growing on the ground form a rosette. The small flowers form a spike at the end of a long style.
The above-ground parts of the plant are freshly collected and dried.
